USB4，2019年，USB-IF在USB 3.2的基礎(chǔ)上整合了雷電3協(xié)議（簡(jiǎn)稱TBT3），推出了USB4 Gen 2x2和USB4 Gen 3x2。這次改名和以往不同的是依然保留了USB 3.2的名字。USB4就是在原先USB 3.2傳輸速度基礎(chǔ)上進(jìn)行了倍增，達(dá)到了40Gbps，也就是USB4 Gen 3x2的速度。USB4同時(shí)支持USB 3.2和TBT3的傳輸。總之，USB4=USB 3.2+TBT3。USB4和USB 3.2一樣，也有單通道模式和雙通道模式。USB4接口和USB 3.2接口一樣，都支持搭載USB PD快充協(xié)議。
USB4整合了多個(gè)協(xié)議，可以同時(shí)支持更多設(shè)備，其中就涉及到帶寬的分配，從下圖可以看出USB4最多分配22Gbps的帶寬用于數(shù)據(jù)傳輸，最少18G的帶寬用于支持顯示。可以連接一個(gè)分辨率為5120x2880(5k)，刷新率60Hz，色深30bit的顯示器，剩下18Gbps的帶寬用于傳輸數(shù)據(jù)；也可以連接兩個(gè)分辨率4096x2160(4k)，刷新率60Hz，色深30bit的視頻，剩下8Gbps的帶寬用于傳輸數(shù)據(jù)。
